"We always save the best for the last. The Whistlepigs String Band is the best stringband we have heard in a long time, and not only because of the fine own songs (although we really favor a band that plays its own songs), but especially for the contagious way they play these songs. Listen to the opener Fenceline about a boy working on a fenceline with his father, and coupling a story about fathers and sons and unfulfilled dreams. Sung in a nice bluegrassy way, beautiful arrangement, great song. And the there's the fact that both Fred Keller and Chris Jones are superb solo singers. There's more - they go further then playing just the usual traditionals, we also hear a very fine version of Steve Earle's Hometown Blues. An absolute top album with no less then seventeen fantastic songs. The instruments are tradtional all right (mandolin, banjo, bass and guitar), but these gentlemen know how to surprise you with these."
